{"id":12432,"date":"2016-08-23T09:01:12","date_gmt":"2016-08-23T07:01:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lunapartner.it\/caccia-ai-bug-apple\/"},"modified":"2024-11-29T15:57:17","modified_gmt":"2024-11-29T14:57:17","slug":"bug-hunt-apple","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lunapartner.it\/en\/bug-hunt-apple\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple bug hunt: $200,000 bounty for those who find them!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hackers capable of bypassing Apple device protections <strong>can start getting to work<\/strong>: the Cupertino company announced this during a presentation at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackhat.com\/us-16\/\">BlackHat 2016<\/a> (the annual international conference on cybersecurity), <strong>offering a $200,000 reward for those who uncover Apple bugs.<\/strong> Microsoft, Google, and many other leading tech companies have already been offering a <strong>stable reward program<\/strong> for some time, compensating those who identify vulnerabilities in their application systems and provide appropriate private documentation.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>The first phase of the initiative<\/strong> is scheduled for September and <strong>will be quite limited<\/strong> \u2013 both in terms of scope (by invitation only, aimed at a select group of researchers the company has previously worked with) and the <strong>number of systems covered<\/strong> (currently only <strong>iOS<\/strong> and<strong> iCloud<\/strong>). However, the monetary rewards on offer are far from negligible&#8230; and if the group tasked by the company were to expand access in the future,<strong> things could get very interesting!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s on the \u201cprice list\u201d? Access by an app to any <strong>internal data on the device not intended for it<\/strong> will be rewarded with sums of up to <strong>$25,000<\/strong>; Apple bugs that allow access to <strong>information stored in iCloud accounts<\/strong> will increase the reward to <strong>$50,000<\/strong>; <strong>arbitrary code execution with kernel privileges<\/strong> remains at <strong>$50,000<\/strong>; extracting material protected by the <strong>Secure Enclave coprocessor<\/strong> will be worth up to $100,000; and the most sensitive vulnerabilities, those of the
